Legend has it that the small steps of present-day salsa originated from the shackled movements of the African slaves who created the dance’s precursors. Honor this empowering art and share the joy of the dance in this introductory class.
Please wear comfortable, casual clothing. You don’t need to bring a partner or have any dancing experience whatsoever.

Regina Lam has learned from some of the most skilled salsa dancers in the D.C. area, including Victor Yang, and has danced socially for the past 10 years in D.C., Sydney, Australia, and Santiago, Chile. She has a profound love for the music and a passion for making salsa inclusive and accessible to all!
Victor Yang, El Panda!!, moved here from Shanghai when he was 9 years old. After initially resisting the temptations of salsa, he succumbed to its allure. Since that day nine years ago, he has been at the heart of the D.C. salsa scene and has taught at Habana Village for seven of those years. He’s danced with several salsa companies, such as Son in Motion, ClaveKazi Student Group, Mambo Swing, Victor and Antonio, and Conga Beat.
