Behind the Scenes: Good Food Markets
Good Food Markets opened its pilot location at 2006 Rhode Island Ave. NE in January 2015.
Good Food Markets is a mission-driven grocery dedicated to developing retail solutions that work in — and, most importantly, for — food desert communities. GFM focuses on fresh produce and other perishables that have often been missing in low-density, low-income neighborhoods throughout the country.
Philip Sambol, the director of partnerships at GFM, will provide a glimpse into the internal workings of the store, highlighting the structural, sourcing, and community engagement activities that set GFM apart from other retailers in underserved neighborhoods.
