Cleared for Takeoff: Photographing Airplanes at Gravelly Point
Taking photographs of low-flying planes presents a particular set of challenges, but also offers the opportunity for delightful pictures. We’ll review different ways for making images of aircraft, discussing lens choice, camera angles, shutter speeds, and depth of field. We’ll also think about how we can create memorable images of an everyday scene.
We’ll meet at Gravelly Point Park, and practice photographing aircraft approaching or climbing out of Reagan National Airport. This class is for anyone who loves aviation and wants to explore new techniques. Any type of camera is fine, as long as you’re reasonably comfortable with it.
Please note that this is an evening class, so bringing a tripod would be helpful (although not required).
