Collaborative learning and peer learning emphasize participatory, ‘social’ education rather than assembly line teaching. Examples in DC include Knowledge Commons DC, DC Learning Collective, SkillShare, P2PU, and many others, both formal and informal. There are hundreds of other examples worldwide, especially in Europe and in economically developing countries. This session brings together interested folks from many disciplines to actively brainstorm, critique, and help build a future of peer learning and collaborative learning in the Washington area. Network building encouraged.

Chris Simpson is a media and social analyst whose books include Blowback, The Splendid Blond Beast, Science of Coercion, National Security Directives of the Reagan and Bush Administrations, Universities and Empire, and War Crimes of the Deutsche Bank and Dresdner Bank. He also edited Comfort Women Speak. His most recent article is “Communication Revolution” for the Oxford Encyclopedia of Social History.
