Are you a news junkie with a taste for graphic novels? Or a comics fan who also geeks out over The New Yorker and “This American Life.” At the intersection of art and nonfiction, comics journalism radically combines real stories about real people with imaginative, drawn storytelling.

We’ll start with a lecture and jump into a conversation about contemporary comics journalism. How does this new genre/medium work and fit into a larger landscape of art and media? Together we’ll learn about some of the best comics journalists working today and why their work just might be the future of journalism. Plus, your teacher, Josh, will explain his process step-by-step and offer a practical how-to.
