DIY Electronic Noisemakers
Build an electronic noisemaker using commonly found circuit components and wisdom from the circuit bender and glitch communities. With just a few integrated circuits, resistors, and capacitors, you’ll be making “music” in no time! You’ll learn the basic theory behind the circuit, how to assemble the circuit by soldering, and how to expand upon your newly created noisemaker — which will sound terrible, but in a really, really good way. There will be a $10 fee for materials.

Bradford Barr is a professional software developer and former president of HacDC, a hacker space located in Mount Pleasant. He has years of experience in many fields of computing, from operating systems to Artificial Intelligence, and has taught several introductory programming classes.
Jon Horner showed up in D.C.’s hacking scene a few years ago. With a background in physics and his passion for audio, his analog electronic skills are formidable. He spends his Fridays repairing pinball machines in Baltimore.
Nick Beauregard is a self-taught wizard with electronics. He has worked on many projects including aviation systems for high-altitude weather-balloon launches, universal video-game-controller adapters, and even his own 8-bit Atari-like video game system. Nick spends his Mondays at HacDC helping foster DIY electronic skills in others.
