Edit Anything for Editors

date Tuesday, 18 September 2012 time 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

👤 Holly J. Morris 🏢 Washington Post

Any piece of writing can be improved upon (great literature is exempt, because great editors got to it first). That writing might be yours, in which case we’ll discuss self-editing. That writing might be other people’s, in which case I’ll teach you to tear their work to shreds in a tactful and constructive manner. You’ll learn to follow my patented (I wish) editing checklist, the same one I use at work. Hilariously execrable examples that may or may not have made me cry on first read will be employed.

Meet at the Washington Post at 6:45 as the doors will be locked and a KCDC volunteer will be there to let you in. ROOM TBD. Bring note taking materials and prepare to hone your preternatural editing skills.
