Your teacher demonstrates proper tree-hugging technique.

As a meeting place of north and south, piedmont and coastal plain, and people from all over the world, D.C. is home to a vast diversity of tree species. How many can you identify?

On this tour, you’ll visit common neighborhood landscape trees and walk through Rock Creek Park to observe some of the trees that live in our native forests. In addition to tree identification tips, we’ll discuss the natural history of trees and how factors such as invasive species and changing cultural values have influenced the trees that surround us today.

You’re invited to share your own knowledge about trees. Dress for the weather and be prepared for a bit of hiking. (Wear comfortable shoes and bring water.)

The rain date for this class is the next day, Sunday, October 30, at 1 p.m.
