CANCELLED: Finding Poetry Between the Lines

date Saturday, 28 September 2013 time 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

👤 Jenni B. Baker 🏢 Washington Post

Past

We’ll trace the history of found poetry — from its origins in Tristan Tzara’s “How to Make a Dadaist Poem” and William S. Burroughs’ cut-up method to its contemporary incarnations — and review popular techniques for creating a found poem.

You’ll also get the chance to try your hand at creating found poetry through a hands-on activity. We’ll wrap things up with a short reading where you can opt to share what you’ve written.

No previous experience writing poetry is required. The session is appropriate for individuals of any age who have a desire to experiment with language and writing. Please bring a hard-copy section of your favorite newspaper.
