A high-tech rendering of the route.

The Gateway Arts District, an artist studio-laden stretch of Route One running through Hyattsville, North Brentwood, Brentwood, and Mount Rainier, is only about a 20-minute drive from downtown Washington. Discover its charms on May 10, when local artists open their studios for the aptly named Open Studio Tour.

This three-hour walking tour will introduce Gateway newbies to some of its artistic highlights, and allow time to chat with individual artists.

We’ll stop at:

ezStorage (galleries in a self-storage facility!)
39th Street Gallery
Art Works
Joanna Blake

We’re offering a later tour, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., as well. Please register here.

The tour’s meet-up location is Metro/Metrobus accessible; we’ll send more details to folks who sign up. We’ll also be organizing car pools.
