Geocaching: The Hidden World Around You
Geocaching is a modern-day scavenger hunt, in which seekers use GPS technology to find ‘caches’ hidden all over the world. Some are physical objects, hidden (but not, per the rules, buried) outside — a tiny container, a 55-gallon oil drum, you name it. Other caches are intangible — an interesting historical fact, for example, that you obtain at the cache site. (Most caches in the D.C. are of the latter type, due to security concerns.)
Sound like wholesome, nerdy fun? Learn the history and rules of the sport, and then we’ll head outside to hunt for caches nearby.
