This BYOS (bring your own scissors) class is for the foodies, crafters, and storytellers at heart.

Dirk Keaton, from the DC Zinefest, will discuss the history of zines in DC, zinemaking in general, and the upcoming DC Zinefest, while Malaka Gharib, creator of The Runcible Spoon, will talk about how the quarterly(ish) zine captures the playfulness of eating through illustration, recipes, stories and collage. Attendees will then get a chance to make a page of a mini KCDC cookbook zine.

The theme will be culinary Washington, D.C. Students should come with DC-related food stories, recipes, poetry and essays in mind, and a pair of scissors in hand. There will be a materials fee of $4 to cover materials.
