This class will cover the basic structure of health care in the United States: how health services are delivered, who delivers them, who gets them (and doesn’t), and how it all gets paid for. We’ll also cover the basics that everyone should know about buying and using health insurance, with a practical emphasis on how to get (and stay) insured when you don’t receive coverage through an employer. Time allowing, we’ll also do a 10,000-foot overview of the Affordable Care Act (the 2010 federal health reform law) and what it means for the future of the American health care system.
