Past

This course investigates field recording as an environmental research practice. Over the course of two intensive days, we will explore the relationship of documentary practice to performance, equipment use, and body awareness. Each day we will meet at Honfleur Gallery and talk about different approaches to recording. Then we will go outside to specific locations in Washington DC and create a series of individual and group field recordings. On the final day, we will create a visual scoring piece from our collected recordings with the computer program Audacity

Materials to Bring: any audio recording device: hand held recorders, smart phones, etc. A laptop if you have one. If you need tools please contact KCDC and we will work with you to arrange equipment access.
