Journaling Using the “Bones” Method
This workshop presents a method of journaling (often called “writing practice” or “freewriting”) based on Natalie Goldberg’s “Writing Down the Bones.”
Journaling can free our writing selves and help us build a sense of community with other writers. You’ll do several timed, spontaneous writing exercises triggered by a variety of prompts, then share (if you want to) what you’ve written. Come to practice writing about your life without crossing out or second-guessing yourself.
Please bring a notebook and a small object from your home or nature to use in one of the exercises. (Don’t worry, we’ll have objects on hand if you don’t bring one.)
This class is presented in partnership with the used bookstore Carpe Librum. Proceeds from Carpe Librum’s sales fund Turning the Page, an organization that helps D.C. public school students receive the resources they need by engaging parents and connecting parents, teachers, and communities.
