A lack of equal voting rights is so central to D.C.’s identity that it’s emblazoned on our license plates. But what exactly does “taxation without representation” mean for the nation’s capital? And how did this state of affairs come to be? Two veterans of the suffrage movement will discuss the storied history of the D.C. voting-rights debate, the present political context, and some potential strategies for moving forward.
