Past

Learn to make fresh pasta and to prepare meals in traditional Italian format. Participants will make fresh pasta starting from raw ingredients (semolina, eggs, and salt) and then incorporate their pasta into a traditional three course Italian dinner. The instructor will bring a pasta machine for the students to share. The seminar will take several hours and will include the entire class sitting down together for dinner. Menu: antipasto - formaggi e olive; primo piatto - fettuccine al burro, pepe, e parmigiano; second piatto - pollo alla griglia. Please note: dairy and gluten play prominent roles in this menu.

Participants should each bring a rolling pin. If you’d like some refreshment while we prepare and dine, feel free to bring a bottle of wine (Chianti classified as DOCG is recommended).

Note: KCDC is a free school, but if teachers have to shoulder financial costs for cooking classes, free isn’t really free. We’re working on ways to make this exchange fair, fun and balanced. If a $5 materials cost or bringing an assigned ingredient is prohibitive for you, let us know, and we’ll work it out.
