Park Maps: DC Urban Social and Environmental Justice through Data and Stories

date Saturday, 11 May 2013 time noon to 3 p.m.

👤 Mikel Maron 🏢 Cleveland Park metro stop

Past

We’ll take an archive dive into the history and politics of the park, survey and explore unusual spaces, and learn how to use new open mapping tools to shine light and tell stories. Our urban parks are nature, constructed, in the service of our society. Spatial decision making not only serves the social order, but defines it. Through new open tools like OpenStreetMap (http://osm.org/) we’ll learn how maps can serve as empowerment tools for sharing everyone’s view on our city and nature.
