Present Like You: Fundamentals of Powerful, Authentic Speaking
Present like Steve Jobs!
Such is the promise of many public speaking courses. But guess what? You’re not Steve Jobs (or Bill Clinton or Oprah), and an audience can easily spot a phony.
Everyone can become a more compelling and authentic speaker using their own talents and style. In this two-hour workshop, you’ll learn tools and techniques that you can immediately use to become a better speaker. This workshop combines brief lectures, group practice, and opportunities for individual reflection to help you:
- Assess your strengths as a speaker;
- Connect with your audience by speaking with purpose;
- Deliver a memorable talk using three powerful speaking techniques.
You’ll have multiple opportunities to practice speaking in this workshop. The class culminates with short speeches and feedback from the instructor and participants. You can come with a talk in mind, but it isn’t necessary.
This class is presented in partnership with DC Public Library.
