The Prosecution of Private Bradley Manning
In May 2010, Private Bradley Manning was arrested in Iraq for allegedly leaking classified video and documents to whistleblower website WikiLeaks. The 25-year-old has been incarcerated since then, spending nine months in conditions amounting to torture. If convicted of aiding the enemy (one of the many charges being leveled against him), Manning could face a lifetime in prison.
Manning’s trial is scheduled to begin in March 2013. In this session, two attorneys advocating on Manning’s behalf will provide background on the case, including information on Manning’s confinement conditions, their impressions from attending much of the pre-trail legal proceedings, and a legal analysis of the issues.
