Past

In this class we will talk about book cover design, what works and why using examples we find on the shelves. We will talk about the design process, how a designer conveys the author’s story and some basic graphic design concepts. Aspiring authors and designers are welcome to bring book covers in process for feedback from the group.

Designer Ben Peterson has designed book covers across almost every genre possible, including; history, politics, Jewish cowboy humor, paranormal erotica, memoirs, self-help, science, hip-hop, ninja how-to, nutrition and poetry. With this panoramic view both subject matter and the industry in question, he will provide some critical discussion of just how to judge a book by its cover.
