Recycling D.C.’s Nutrients Back to Its Soils

date Saturday, 11 January 2014 time 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

👤 Bill Brower 🏢 Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant

Past

The stuff we send down our garbage disposals/toilets/storm drains has traditionally been seen as a burden by the water treatment world. But wastewater from the District’s homes and businesses contains (literally) tons of nutrients and organic material — just the stuff plants need to grow.

Join us for a tour of the Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant and see firsthand how D.C. turns sewage into nutrient-rich biosolids and clean water.
