Bill explains why you should not put baby wipes down the toilet. Because that annoys this machine.

The stuff we send down our garbage disposals/toilets/storm drains has traditionally been seen as a burden by the water treatment world. But wastewater from the District’s homes and businesses contains (literally) tons of nutrients and organic material — just the stuff plants need to grow.

Join us for a tour of the Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant and see firsthand how D.C. turns sewage into nutrient-rich biosolids and clean water.

We will meet at the Anacostia Metro station, where a van will pick us up 1:10 p.m. and drive us to the Wastewater Treatment plant. PLEASE do not be late.

If you plan to drive to the plant on your own, please email contact@knowledgecommonsdc.org to let us know.

Everyone will need to bring a photo ID with them in order to enter the plant.
