Simple Syrups: Free and Easy
For foragers and flavor fans alike, this class will take you from the streets of Shaw to a neighborhood kitchen to prepare simple syrups for boozing, baking, sipping and shaking. We’ll meet at the Shaw Metro (Howard U side) and make our way through the neighborhood collecting edibles plants for infusion.
Erika is a vegetarian foodie with crazy allergies. Hence, she cooks almost exclusively for herself, and is forced to be extra inventive in the kitchen. Lucy is a lapsed bartender who believes that simple syrups are the secret to great drinks on the cheep. Together, they’ll go over drink proportions, personal flavor philosophies, and unexpected ways to make simple syrups.
