We’ll first review the history of Artificial Intelligence and define the field’s key terms. After taking a look at AI in our present-day lives, we’ll delve into the most promising routes to a true artificial superintelligence of tomorrow. Lastly, we’ll summarize how today’s prominent thinkers predict AI will unfold for humanity, both in the short term and ultra-long term.

This first session is aimed at people who have little or no exposure to AI concepts, terms, and history. The session will consist primarily of lecture, video, and Q&A. No technical or programming knowledge required. If you’re already familiar with the subject, feel free to skip directly to Singularity 102: What AI Means for Humanity the following week.
