Tap Dancing: From Vaudeville to Your Own Feet

date Tuesday, 10 February 2015 time 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

👤 Julie Rubin 🏢 Saint George's Episcopal Church

Past

Tap dancing as an art form feeds off the cultural attitudes and norms of the time. You’ll learn a brief history of tap dancing, from its roots in minstrelsy to its popularity in modern Broadway shows. Then we’ll create makeshift tap shoes and learn some steps!

We’ll be making taps by taping quarters to our shoes, so bring some change and strong tape, and wear hard-soled shoes.
