Urban Aquaponics

date Tuesday, 24 September 2013 time 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

👤 Carlos Villamar 🏢 The Hive 2.0

Past

Aquaculture isn’t lounging around on a beach! In this class you’ll learn how to take small spaces, like a backyard, and turn them into a productive aquaponics system for home-growing organic fish and vegetables. You’ll learn about the history, benefits, and techniques, all from an individual with a working aquaponics system located inside the Beltway.

Black Soldier Fly (BSF) composting and auto-fish feeding techniques will also be discussed. The BSF composter can be used to convert uneaten organic matter into BSF larvae that can be used as fish food or to make biodiesel.
