Past

I got to learn more words for what I felt on the inside
It was like those words let my voice rise

We dream
Of voices
One day
Released

Refusing to be
Silenced

The Voices of women from different times and places express their pain and hope with great vulnerability and realism, with the desire that you too will experience the healing that can come through using your voice to tell your own story.

Patrice, the author of this recently published documentary poetry collection, will begin with a reading of her work. You’ll then have a chance to browse the collection and select a piece you’d like to discuss further. We’ll conclude with an open discussion about these poems and the experience of hearing and discussing the stories of women through poetry.

We’ll meet in the conference room down the stairs from the main library entrance.

This class is presented in partnership with DC Public Library.
