As a meeting place of north and south, piedmont and coastal plain, and people from all over the world, D.C. is home to a vast diversity of tree species. How many can you identify?

On this tour, you’ll learn to recognize some of the trees that live in our native forests as well as some newcomers. In addition to tree identification tips, we’ll discuss the natural history of trees and how factors such as invasive species and changing tastes have influenced what trees live around us.

You’re invited to share your own knowledge about trees. Dress for the weather and be prepared for a bit of walking, though we will stay mostly on pavement. (Wear comfortable shoes and bring water.)

The rain date for this class is Sunday, November 5, at 1 p.m.
