Shucking doesn’t require you to become a champion, but it doesn’t hurt to learn from one. (Photo by Chesapeake Bay Program.)

Oysters show up on fancy restaurant menus all around D.C., but they don’t have to be intimidating! From oyster anatomy and history to shucking and enjoying oysters on your own, this class will answer all of your questions about these beautiful bivalves.

Come hungry and leave with the knowledge necessary to approach the raw bar with confidence — or to set up your own at home! You’ll be working with fresh live oysters, and inexperienced shuckers often get messy, so please dress accordingly.

Please bring $10 in cash to cover the cost of your oysters and shucking supplies. (We waive fees when needed.)
