Let’s Get Weird: Intro to Performance Art

date Sunday, 8 November 2015 time 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

👤 DeLesslin "Roo" George-Warren 🏢 KCDC Pop-Up Learning Space

Past

In 2010, Marina Abramović sat silently for 760 hours in the Museum of Modern Art. Far from boring, her show, “The Artist is Present,” became one of the most popular in MoMA’s history. But why did she do it? What’s the point?

This class will cover a brief history of performance art. We’ll have some interactive (performance-based) discussions and talk about historical pieces, then end the class by creating our own performances!

Note: Many, many performance art pieces include nudity, and some historical pieces we’ll discuss involve graphic images. You’ve been warned.
