Writing Poetry Through Yoga and Meditation
This workshop will be made up of three parts: a gentle yoga class, meditation, and writing guided by prompts. To begin, you’ll use yoga and meditation techniques to gain awareness of your body and listen to what it’s telling you. The intention is to gain acceptance of the body, without judgment. Then, you’ll transfer that awareness into the written word, creating poetry grounded in the lived experience of your body.
This workshop is open to all ages and abilities. Please bring a yoga mat and a towel (as an extra cushion for the knees on the classroom floor), and wear comfortable clothes. A limited number of yoga mats will be available to borrow; email contact@knowledgecommonsdc.org if you need to borrow one.
